Position - Trainee Production Foreman 

Responsible to - Production Foreman

Location - Poole, Dorset

 

Description:

Trainee Production Foreman required for a fast moving and people orientated business. The company offer full training and development, excellent OTE and lots of benefits.

 

You will be joining at a time where a 6+ month training and handover will be completed with the current Production foreman. This will allow for the successful individual to learn to a high degree the products we build and the business in general.

The Production Foreman is Responsible for the operation of a section within the Manufacturing function, supporting with the day-to-day management of the manufacturing area, overseeing a team of technicians and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business targets. Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer. Development of the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.

We are looking for applicants with a ‘can do’ attitude willing to work as part of a team and take on other activities in the factory. This is a role for a quality focused individual with good attention to detail and the ability to work to tight delivery schedules.

 

Role Outline in Brief

  • Maintaining the high standards of quality, regulatory and ISO requirements.  A good awareness of Health and Safety in an industrial environment is also required.
  • Awareness of Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma preferably in the build of electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs.
  • overseeing the production process in line with the agreed production schedule and monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as agreed.,
  • ensuring that the production is efficient and cost effective by assessing total production capacity against production demand.
  • liaising with QA, Design, Service, Operations, Purchasing and Sales.
  • working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
  • ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • supervising and motivating the Production team and leading Lean Production practices
  • reviewing the performance of the Production team.
  • identifying training needs.
  • The technician will be working on a range of electro-mechanical subassemblies and full product builds, completing a training matrix to be cross-functional across all production activities.
  • Support stock activities to ensure material levels are adequately managed.
  • developing and managing the ‘Build Instruction Manuals’ to ensure that products are produced on time and are of outstanding quality.
  • Strong leadership skills, experience managing a varied team.

Essential Criteria:

  • 1+ years’ experience of “direct first line management Operational Teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make sound and reasonable Operational decisions.
  • The right candidate will ensure the smooth daily operation of the production processes, be able to work under pressure when required and have a can-do attitude.
  • Challenges personal performance and develops own skills and supports the team to consistently strive for improved results.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the business and where the supply chain and manufacturing fits as part of the business strategy.
  • Accepts the need for change and demonstrates a working knowledge and application of continuous improvement tools in daily work and is capable of actively leading improvement teams.
