Azalea Court Care Home modernised its moving and handling capabilities with DDC's flexible overhead ceiling hoist system.
Azalea Court Care Home has worked with DDC for approximately 16 years, initially purchasing and maintaining its sluice room equipment. During a conversation with the DDC team, the Estate Manager discovered that DDC also supplied mobile and overhead ceiling hoist systems. After comparing three manufacturers, the team chose DDC, recognising the quality, flexibility and innovation of the solution.

As resident needs evolved, Azalea Court wanted to introduce a new moving and handling solution that would complement its existing equipment while providing greater flexibility for residents and carers.
The aim was to improve the moving and handling experience by ensuring lifting equipment was always readily available, reducing waiting times and supporting more efficient care. The home also wanted a modern, ergonomic system that could accommodate residents and staff of varying heights, while providing a flexible solution that helps improve carer safety, reduce equipment downtime and lower long-term maintenance costs.
DDC installed an overhead ceiling hoist system throughout the residential nursing home. With the ability to transfer hoist cassettes between track systems in different rooms, the overhead solution offers exceptional flexibility. Easily adjustable for different users, the robust system ensures lifting equipment is always available when needed, supporting safe, dignified resident transfers.
The Estate Manager also praised the professionalism of the installation team, commenting on the high quality of workmanship and the strong relationship continued with DDC throughout the project.
The new ceiling hoist system has improved efficiency by eliminating the need to locate mobile hoists and making lifting equipment instantly available above the resident. Carers can respond more quickly, while residents benefit from smoother, more dignified transfers. The transferable hoist system also helps reduce long-term maintenance costs by maximising equipment utilisation and minimising downtime.
Looking ahead, Azalea Court plans to continue expanding its overhead & mobile lifting solutions and strengthen its partnership with DDC through ongoing maintenance and future projects.
